The city of Funchal is crossed by the wood we call "ribeiras". These are small streams that flow into the bay from the capital. In this case, the photo refers to the Ribeira de Santa Luzia, which lies between that of Ribeira de João Gomes, at east, and Ribeira de São João, at west.

This vessel, the Volcan de Tijarafe passes twice weekly in the port of Funchal. It belongs to the Spanish company Naviera Armas, with headquarters in the Canary Islands. The first passage is Saturday. Come to Gran Canaria and leaves Madeira towards Portimaão in southern Portugal. Este navio, o Volcan de Tijarafe, passa duas vezes por semana no porto do Funchal. Pertence à companhia espanhola Naviera Armas, com sede nas ilhas Canárias. A primeira passagem é ao sábado. Vem de Gran Canaria e deixa a Madeira em direcção a Portimão, no sul de Portugal. Regressa e volta a passar no Funchal na segunda-feira, dia em que sai para Tenerife, nas Canárias.
Por se tratar de um ferry, transporta passageiros, carros e carga.
