This is a low relief unveiled these days in Funchal.
It is a tribute to Bernard Harvey Foster who brought to Madeira in 1904 the first car.
The idea of this tribute was it's for the economist Eduardo Jesus who just released a book about that historic moment.

É uma homenagem a Bernard Harvey Foster que trouxe à Madeira em 1904 o primeiro automóvel.
A ideia desta homenagem nasceu do economista madeirense Eduardo Jesus que acaba de lançar um livro acerca daquele momento histórico.

The Christian Radich was in Madeira recently.
This is a sailboat that usually make stops regularly at the port of Funchal. She is a Norwegian full-rigged ship. The vessel was built in Norway, and was delivered on 17 June 1937. The owner was The Christian Radich Sail Training Foundation established by a grant from an officer of that name. The crew is 18 altogether. It can accommodate 88 passengers.
The vessel was built for training sailors for the Norwegian merchant navy, and did so for many years. From 1999 and on, the ship has been on the charter market as well as sailing with paying trainees to foreign ports on summer trips, and large sail events in various European ports.

esteve na Madeira recentemente. É um veleiro que faz escalas
regularmente no porto do Funchal. Foi construído na Noruega e
entregue em 17 de junho de 1937.

doação de um oficial com esse nome.
A tripulação é de
18 pessoas e pode acomodar até 88 passageiros.
Foi construído para
treinar marinheiros para a marinha mercante norueguesa, e fê-lo por
muitos anos. De 1999 em diante, tem sido usado mais no mercado
charter, bem como para velejar com estagiários para portos
estrangeiros em viagens de verão, e nos grandes eventos de vela em
vários portos europeus.
