The city of Funchal was facing last week celebrations for one of its icons: the flowers. This image shows some of which exist throughout the year hanging in the streets. This plant or tree is called in Portuguese language Olaia. Has the scientific name Cercis siliquastrum. It is the family Leguminosae and originates from southern Europe and Asia. I found it in the Colégio Square, next to the Cafe do Meseu. The colors of your plants attracted my attention. Encontrei-a na Praça do Município, junto ao Café do Teatro. As cores das suas plantas despertaram a minha atenção. Em relação ao enquadramento, já tirei umas duas fotografias noutras alturas do ano e tive ocasião de as partilhar consigo.

The cruise ship Ventura, from the british company P&O, is not a constant presence in Funchal port, but passes through the capital of Madeira Island a few times during the year. The Bazar do Povo is one of the flagship stores of Funchal. Built for decades in the heart of the capital of Madeira, has evolved over time. Complete two years today for the daily publication of a photograph of Funchal on this site, Funchal Daily Photo. A commitment that I took when I took part of the global City Daily Photo portal.
Entering the third year, I can be proud of having achieved show the capital of Madeira over the world. In most of the time with my outlook of the city, unlike the more common view, which can be found easily on the cards.

I liked to show that all this work is done with common cameras, almost pocket cameras, like I show in this post.
First with the Olympus FE-280, about the size of a credit card, although with a thickness of about five or six together.
Then, with a slight improvement in terms of price, with the Canon PowerShot SX110.
However, this machine has proved a big bet on comparing price/quality.
However, I am aware of the limitations of this camera. And as much as I admire the images of photographers who sell their work for National Geographic, and he liked to get, I know that I can't do it with a Smart car, the same that they doing with their Ferrari.

However, without false modesty, I still contributes to promote the Madeira capital, a tourist destination with more than 200 year history of welcoming tourists.
The numbers of followers and international fan page on Facebook that appeared later, show that.
But the comments to photos that can be read on this site, made by people all over the world, are the real testimony of the esteem and affection they have for my work.

Completo hoje dois anos de publicação diária de uma fotografia da cidade do Funchal neste site, Funchal Daily Photo. Um compromisso que assumi quando aceitei integrar o portal mundial City Daily Photo.
Ao entrar no Ano 3, posso orgulhar-me de ter conseguido mostrar a capital da ilha da Madeira pelo mundo inteiro. Na maior parte das vezes, com as minhas perspectivas da cidade, diferente das mais comuns, que se podem encontrar facilmente nos postais.
Gostava de evidenciar que todo este trabalho é feito com máquinas fotográficas comuns, quase de bolso, conforme pode ver na fotografia que coloco hoje. Primeiro com a Olympus FE-280, sensivelmente do tamanho de um cartão de crédito, embora com espessura de uns cinco ou seis juntos. Depois, com uma ligeira evolução a nível de preço, com a Canon powershot sx110. No entanto, esta máquina tem-se revelado uma grande aposta na comparação preço/qualidade. Contudo, estou ciente das limitações desta câmara. E, por mais que admire as imagens dos fotógrafos que vendem os seus trabalhos para a National Geographic, e que gostasse de conseguir, sei que tenho o possível, um Smart, que não pode render o mesmo que um Ferrari.

No entanto, sem falsas modéstias, contribui e continuo para promover a capital do destino turístico Madeira, com mais de 200 anos de história de bem receber os turistas.
Os números de seguidores internacionais e de fãs na página que surgiu depois no Facebook, evidenciam isso mesmo.
Mas os comentários às fotografias que podem ser lidos neste site, feitos por pessoas de todo o mundo, constituem o testemunho real do apreço e carinho que têm pelo meu trabalho.
Em tudo isto encontro estímulos para continuar. Daí querer agradecer a cada seguidor e fã do Facebook por acreditar e gostar do que faço. É conforto tê-lo sempre ao meu lado.
Apesar de tudo, embora tenha muitos seguidores e fãs a Madeira e de Portugal, considero que está em falta outro reconhecimento deste projecto por pessoas da ilha.

Ao entrar no terceiro ano eu entendo que devo alterar algo mais que o layout da página, que faço com alguma regularidade.
Embora tenha começado por fazer nos primeiros posts, com a descrição do que não se vê na fotografia, entendi que a fotografia tinha de "falar" por si. Embora continue a pensar da mesma forma, considero que devo dar mais coordenadas do que a imagem pode mostrar. Por isso, vou retomar as descrições em cada fotografia. Primeiro em inglês, por exigência do portal City Daily Photo a que estou ligado, e, depois, em português, a língua do meu País.

Além desta mudança, estou aberto a sugestões. Se considera que devo fazer outros "up-grades", agradeço que me diga para que possa fazer um site cada vez melhor.
