Um dia destes estava a passar na Rua da Carreira e vi a porta aberta, o que não era normal. Entrei e fui conhecer um espaço que nunca havia entrado. Ao contrário de algumas críticas que li recentemente, gostei do que vi.
A construção do cemitério, para estrangeiros, data de 1771. A sua área foi aumentada em 1852, devido ao aumento de cidadãos britânicos na Ilha, razão pela qual é também designado por "cemitério dos Ingleses".
No Old Burial Ground estão sepultadas algumas personalidades notáveis, como Richard Tomas Lowe e Paul Langenhans, médico e investigador que descobriu as "células de Langenhans".

Esta cobertura brilhante é de um edifício da cidade do Funchal carregado de história. Já foi um hotel de renome e hoje é da Santa Casa de Misericórdia do Funchal e nele funcionam serviços como um lar e igualmente a Direção Regional de Estatística.
Contactei com quem devia no sentido de alertar de que esta pintura feita depois de reparadas as velhas folhas de zinco, que até tinham alguma graça, mas que careciam realmente de melhoramentos, não deveria ser assim porque é agressiva para a vista.
Alertei para a existência de tinta sem ser brilhante que, aliás, deveria ser uma exigência para qualquer cobertura.
Só imagino se todos os telhados da cidade reparados e pintados com tinta isolante fossem todos assim...
O que me disseram é que dentro de uns dois a três meses a tinta queima e deixa de brilhar. Tenho pena que tenha que esperar. Ainda por cima tenho muitas dúvidas acerca do que disse o responsável pelos trabalhos.
